Chase Coleman III, also known as Charles Payson Coleman III, is an American hedge fund manager. He was born into a wealthy family and has been able to add a considerable amount of new money to his family's fortune. Chase Coleman III is considered a rising star in the investment industry, having earned billions of dollars in the modern technology market.

Early Life and Education

Chase Coleman III was born and raised in Glen Head, a privileged town in Nassau County, New York. His father is a partner at the New York law firm Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP, specializing in corporate law, while his mother is an interior designer and business owner. Among Chase's ancestors is Pieter Stuyvesant, the last Dutch Governor-General of New Netherland, who built the city wall that gave Wall Street its name.

Chase Coleman III attended the prestigious Deerfield Academy in Massachusetts, a boarding school that prepares students from elite families for college. In 1997, he graduated from Williams College with a degree in Spanish and Economics, following in the footsteps of his grandfather. During college, Chase played lacrosse for the university team.

After college, Chase Coleman III joined Tiger Management as an analyst. Tiger Management was led by legendary hedge fund manager Julian Robertson, who happened to be the father of Chase's close friend, Spencer Robertson. When Tiger Management collapsed in 2000, Julian provided the most talented members of his team with funds to start their own ventures. Chase Coleman III used the $25 million he received to establish Tiger Technology Management, later renamed Tiger Global.

Chase Coleman III has turned those initial $25 million into a minimum of $10 billion, largely due to his early investments in internet projects such as Facebook and Zynga. Personal Life and Philanthropy

In 2005, Chase Coleman III married Stephanie Ercklentz, a blonde beauty who comes from a similar privileged background. The wedding ceremony took place at the Church of Bethesda-by-the-Sea in Palm Beach. Stephanie's grandfather, Enno Ercklentz, was a German banker who relocated to the United States in 1926 and became the head of a chemical company. Stephanie herself appeared in the documentary film "Born Rich."

The couple currently resides in luxurious apartments in Manhattan, which cost $36.5 million. Chase Coleman III is a Republican and actively supports the Republican Party financially.
