Shayne David Hyrapiet (Born May 21, 1980) is an Anglo-Armenian-Indian[1][2] professional cover singer/stage performer born and raised in Kolkata (formerly Calcutta) India[3]. Passionate about singing he began as an amateur in the year 2001. He subsequently turned his passion into a profession and has since performed extensively across India as well as in the United States, Australia, Switzerland, Canada, Kuwait, Dubai, Thailand, Hong Kong, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. Shayne has had the privilege of sharing stage and opening concerts for famous Indian singers such as Usha Uthup[4], Shaan[4][5], Bombay Viking[4], Atif Aslam[5], Stereo Nation[5], Shibani Kashyap, Jal, Sukhbir[5], Kunal Ganjawala, K.K[5]., Manasi Scott, Jasleen Matharu, Sivamani[6], and Louiz Banks and has also performed for the Former President of India Sri. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. Shayne's versatility lies in his ability to sing Bollywood Hits, Punjabi Bhangra Hits, and Retro and Contemporary English songs. Shayne speciality lies in open-air concerts, Indian Weddings, and Multinational Corporate Events. Shayne has also performed a number of shows for charity[7][8] and social justice issues from One Billion Rising[9][10][11][12] (Kolkata), Rainbow Homes[13][1] (Loreto) to the annual Kolkata Christmas Festival[14][15][16][17][18] at Allen Park, Kolkata and the Bow Barracks[19][20] of Kolkata.

Early Life

Shayne Hyrapiet was born to Heather and Peter Hyrapiet, a member and guitarist of the Cavaliers[21] of Calcutta. Shayne received no formal education or training in music, but participated in school and inter-school meets where his talent and passion for singing was cultivated. Shayne attended St. Thomas' Day School and Assembly of God Church School for high school. He received his B.Com degree from St. Xavier's College, Kolkata.

Personal Life

Shayne is married to Nidhi Bakshi. They have two daughters Skyla and Sierra. Shayne lives and works in Kolkata, India.

Career

Shayne entered the music scene by competing in and winning several school and inter-school singing competitions where he excelled in modern and contemporary beats to gospel music. He is popularly known for his rendition of Amazing Grace.

Shayne began his professional singing career when he was shortlisted in the city of Calcutta (Kolkata) for the MTVRadio Ga-Ga Competition. He was among the four finalists who shared the stage with Adnan Sami.[22]. Thereafter, he competed in the Pepsi Music Magic Contest and was awarded 1st place in 1999 out of 102 participants[22]

In 1997, Shayne sang at the funeral service of the Late Mother Teresa of Calcutta.

In 2005 and 2006, he performed in Switzerland under contract with SOTC and Kuoni.[4]

In 2006, Shayne performed in Kuwait City for India Day regaling the 19 thousand audience with his foot-tapping Bhangra, Hindi, and English beats.[5]

In 2007 (Aug 12-19), Shayne performed for the All-India Anglo-Indian Reunion in Toronto, Canada.[5]

In 2008, Shayne was the playback singer for the movie Love Songs directed by Jayabrato Chatterjee starring Jaya Bachchan and Om Puri[23][5]. He sang Where do you go and Baby, Baby, Baby[24])

Since 2011, Shayne has performed at the Kolkata Christmas Festival organized by the Anglo-Indian Association of Kolkata, the Kolkata Police and the West Bengal Tourism Department.

Since 2017, Shayne has been a regular for the New Year's Eve Gala at the Tollygunge Club. He has been a popular entertainer at the Royal Calcutta Golf Club, Calcutta Cricket and Football Club, Calcutta Rowing Club, Saturday Club, Dalhousie Institute, and Lake Club.

Shayne frequently performs for the Kolkata Police and Tourism Department of the Government of West Bengal.== References ==
