Mirjalol Qasimov: An Uzbek Football Legend

Mirjalol Qasimov is widely regarded as one of the greatest Uzbek footballers of all time. His illustrious career was marked by numerous triumphs and accolades.

Youthful Brilliance

Qasimov's exceptional talent emerged at a young age. He captained the USSR national under-17 and under-21 teams, leading them to victory in the 1987 FIFA World Youth Championship, the 1987 and 1988 UEFA European Under-17 Championships, and the 1994 Asian Games.

Club Success

After his impressive performances at the youth level, Qasimov joined FK Spartak-Alania Vladikavkaz in 1995. With Spartak-Alania, he won the Russian Premier League title in 1995. He later returned to Uzbekistan and won three Uzbek League championships with Pakhtakor Tashkent.

International Recognition

Qasimov made his debut for the Uzbekistan national team in 1994. He played a pivotal role in the team's success, captaining them for many years. Along with Andrey Fyodorov, he holds the record for the most appearances for the Uzbek national team, with 65 caps.

Farewell Match

Qasimov retired from professional football in 2007. His farewell match was a memorable occasion, featuring a game between the Uzbekistan national team and a team of European and Asian stars.
